"Welcome to the Neighborhood"

"Welcome to the Neighborhood"

Yes, this is very different than my "normal" style. I must confess...in addition to working in soft pastel, I'm a "closet" abstract/experimental painter. One of the biggest benefits of moving into my own studio at Liberty Station is the freedom to create and display works without the restriction to a "juried" medium.  One of the first things I set up in my new studio was a painting station for large works on canvas. Whenever the mood strikes (and that's about once a week), I can whip out the brushes and work on one of these big boys to take a break from the more detailed, dusty finger work of pastel. I've decided these will also hang nicely on the outside wall of my booth at ArtWalk, since they won't be affected by the direct sun like pastels under glass would be.

"Welcome to the Neighborhood" represents a colorful walk through the landscape of my idle thoughts. Upon arrival at the studio in the morning, I sit before the easel, mix the colors that come to mind, and set brush to canvas. Very relaxing and satisfying, the perfect start to a day in the studio. This piece represents about one month of on and off work. You can purchase here and I'll ship anywhere in the continental US or Canada, or pick up at my Liberty Station studio and I'll refund the shipping. $625 + $30 shipping.
