Painting a Day "Breezin"

This fun little 5" x 5" warm up painting reminds me of the sound of rustling palm fronds. It was an easy one to paint, but difficult to represent here in a photo. The background is actually iridescent, which is almost impossible to capture. Rendered in soft pastel on sanded paper, it is offered fully framed in a coordinating wood frame, ready for gift giving or keep it yourself to hang and enjoy. Buy it Now price: $75 + $10 to ship anywhere in the continental U.S. Updated 7/11/10: Sold!

Almost Famous

My husband and I have a little joke around our house. Every time something pushes my art endeavors in a positive direction, he looks at me and says..."You're almost famous." These little "events of encouragement" as I call them, are the things that only another artist would understand, and I'm sharing them here not to boast about my achievements, but to hopefully encourage others to follow their passions. With that said...here are two of this months "events" that made my heart sing. I was contacted by a medical organization that wanted permission to use one of my images on the cover of their medical conference brochure, and the second was the inclusion of my work in the Daily Painters advertisement in the May issue of American Art Collector Magazine. A big thank you to the Daily Painters group, both of these opportunities made me feel "almost famous."

Painting a Day "Morley Fifth Green"

Funny story...I was registered, paid and primed to participate in the North Park Plein Air paint-out competition this past week. Participants were given a generous window of time (a few weeks) to produce their entries of North Park neighborhood scenes. Wouldn't you know it...the only days I had penciled in to go out and paint, it rained! There I sat in the back of my van, determined to have my entry ready. No such luck, misty/rainy weather is not the friend of soft pastel plein air painters. Anyhow, I missed the deadline, but finished the painting to share with you here. That's Balboa Park in the distance to the right, and downtown San Diego in the distance to the left. Not being a golfer, I actually had to go ask one of the players what you call that "bright green area with the flagpole in it." Hence the title. This piece is 12" x 16" and painted in soft pastel on a sanded surface. It is offered here fully framed and ready to hang and enjoy! It will soon hang in my gallery, but it is also available for purchase here. Buy it now price: $350 + $40 to ship anywhere in the continental U.S. Thanks for looking. Updated 6/26/11: Sold!
