While traveling to the Monterey/Carmel area this past summer, my thoughts were on this beautiful "shortcut" that runs from Hwy. 101 to the east end of Carmel Valley. It's actually a bit longer, but much more scenic. I painted a similar scene a few years ago, and just can't get it off my mind. Just a simple road and trees as far as your eye can see in every direction...we thought we were lost!
