Founded in 1769, Mission San Diego de Alcala is not only the first of the great California Missions, it is also California's first church. Today the Mission serves as an active parish church and cultural center for people of all faiths who are welcome to visit and relive the grandeur and excitiement of more than two centuries of California history and tradition.
