Los Penasquitos Preserve

"Los Penasquitos Preserve"
12" x 16" Pastel on Sandpaper

A short burst of rain in the San Diego area has given me lots of ideas to work with. Our sky is usually "severe clear" with not a cloud in sight. A trip up the coast near Del Mar was just the inspiration I needed to capture fleeting clouds and the beautiful greens and oranges of the Los Penasquitos Preserve, with Hwy.1 and Torrey Pines State Park in the distance. Each year I receive an invitation to paint at the Torrey Pines Plein Air event, but wind, fog and rain have made me think twice. Maybe 2015 is my year!

"Los Penasquitos Preserve" is offered framed in a wide, dark brown, plein air style frame with UV/non-glare museum glass. Ready to hang and enjoy. $365 + $35 to ship anywhere in the continental US or Canada, or pick up at my Spanish Village studio and I'll refund the shipping.

"Pt. Loma Sunset"

"Pt. Loma Sunset"
12" x 12" Framed Oil on Canvas

Skyscapes are a favorite subject of mine, and this view of the sunset over Pt. Loma was a fun project. The setting sun bounces off the water in so many different combinations of color, contrast and mood! I've painted this scene in pastel before, depicting different times of day and weather conditions. This is the first representation in oil on canvas, with I'm sure many more to come.

"Pt. Loma Sunset" is offered framed and available here. You can have it shipped to your door, or pick up at the studio and I'll refund the shipping. $275 + $30 to ship anywhere in the continental US or Canada. Hope to see you soon :) Updated 3/10/14: Sold...and given as a gift to a friend!

"Holiday at La Jolla Cove"

A rare site...La Jolla Cove without the swimmers! That's one of the best things about November here in San Diego. Once the Thanksgiving holiday weekend is over, and the tourists are safely winging their way home, our local beaches are somewhat deserted. The crisp, clear sky and pounding surf are all that remain of a week of too much turkey, too much shopping, and too much traffic. It's the perfect time to stroll the boardwalk and do a little tidepooling...

"Holiday at La Jolla Cove" is offered framed in a wide, dark brown plein air style frame with UV/non-glare museum glass. Ready to hang and enjoy. Purchase here and have it shipped to your door, or purchase here and pick up at my studio at Liberty Station and I'll refund the shipping. $365 + $35 to ship anywhere in the continental US or Canada. Updated 11/29/13: Sold to a new collector in Garden Plain, Kansas!

Daily Painters "San Diego River Reflections"

Walking across the bridge at Mission Center Road one morning, I spied this beautiful reflection while looking west up the San Diego River. It's not often that we have such sharp, puffy, white clouds overhead. That little voice in my head said, "That's a painting." And so it is.

Painted in soft pastel on sandpaper, this is another of my larger pieces for display at the upcoming Mission Federal ArtWalk festival in Little Italy this month. The image measures 18" x 24" and it is framed in wide dark wood with UV/non-glare museum glass. Ready to hang and enjoy. Offered for local (San Diego) pick-up only. Buy it now price $595. Updated 7/17/13: Sold...to a new collector in Sandpoint, Idaho!
