Moss green, sea green, lime green, yellow green...the colors of summer on the pond. Balboa Park is the location, and the pods are popping. Long stems swaying in the breeze, an occasional turtle pops up to munch on a ruffled pad. It's all play for the artist, paint mixing play!

It's time once again for "Friday Night Liberty." This Friday, 5-9pm we will be hosting our monthly "open studio" night in all of the studios and galleries. Food, drink, and music are on hand, so stop by and make it a date night! The location is NTC/Liberty Station in Pt. Loma, just off Rosecrans Street. I'm in Barracks 19 at the corner of Historic Decatur Rd. and Dewey Rd. on the second floor.

"Touch of Luck" - A peek into the reflecting pool at Balboa Park is always a fun adventure. I'm guessing these beauties were pets at some point, then released into the public pond in the park. Big, fat, and healthy, they probably get their fill of popcorn and other treats from visiting kids, and they didn't seem to mind posing for the camera.

Unusually warm days of January here in San Diego have prompted long walks through Balboa Park. One of the beautiful features of our park is the historic Lily Pond. Spent blossom pods and newly blooming flowers make for fun shapes to paint, and lily pads always sport interesting shapes.
