Painting daily sometimes gets my ideas flowing so fast that it's hard to keep up. Usually, I arrive at the studio in the morning with no idea what the day will bring. I thumb through a big box of reference photos I've taken on my travels, and one thing or another will jump out to be painted. But on this day, before I could even get into the studio, this group of oak trees worked their way into my early morning dreams. Do you dream in color? My dreams are in crazy color...and usually that "wonky" pathway is in every dream. Hmmm, I wonder what that means...

Daily Painters "La Jolla Cove Two"

La Jolla Cove is always a fun subject to revisit. No matter how many interpretations of this scene I see, I never tire of looking. A breezy day, puffy clouds, and choppy surf made this the perfect day to capture yet another memory. My "artistic license" allowed me to clear the beach of all the tourists, so you can enjoy it all to yourself...

Another in my Torrey Pines Nature Preserve series, this is one of the many beautiful views from the hiking trails that overlook the Pacific Ocean. Daily Painters "Torrey Pines Walk"

I recently spent a beautiful afternoon hiking the trails at Torrey Pines State Reserve. I'm convinced that this must have been the area that inspired the infamous Dr. Seuss. The windswept trees were whimsical in their odd shapes, twising and leaning in "Seussical" fashion.

Daily Painters "Sonoma Foothills"

California landscape paintings are favorites of mine, and the wine country offers an endless source of beautiful settings. John and I are looking forward to another trip to Sonoma soon. He will get his race car fix at Infineon Raceway, while I'll be armed with sketchbook, pastels and camera.
